Seneca College’s Indigenous centre, Odeyto, has won rave reviews for its innovative architecture and sustainable building practices. Shaped like a Haudenosaunee longhouse as well as an upturned canoe-to represent Seneca’s function as a stop on students’ journeys-the centre is brimming with symbolism. Add to this sustainable multipurpose furniture by Herman Miller, and Odeyto becomes more than a building that can win awards, but a community-oriented space where First Peoples@Seneca can truly feel at home.
